Anita Mui (梅艷芳)
Anita Mui Yim-Fong was seen as “the Queen of Hong Kong popular music”. Her career began in 1982 after she won the singing contest. She released her first album named “赤色梅艷芳” at 1983. Her best-hit album was "Bad Girl" (壞女孩) in 1985, which had successfully given her a “rebellious and boyish” image. The “Bad Girl” album was sold for over 400,000 copies, which had achieved eight times “platinum album” record. Mui released 50 albums in total. Throughout her career, she had achieved a record of 10 million albums sold. Anita also broke the record of having 28 consecutive concerts from 1987 to 1988 at the Hong Kong Coliseum. “She was famed for her outrageous costumes and high-power performances in combination with contralto vocals, which are rare in female artists.” Her charisma and unique performing style had created an unprecedented image of an avant-garde female.
