Derivative Works: Social Issues

Cantopop is a powerful instrument to present social issues to the audiences, most of the derivative works are focusing on the social problems in the society to raise social awareness and evokes resonance among people. The influential power of Hong Kong business magnate Lee Ka Shing among the city, the anti-locust feelings, the difficulties of acquiring home ownership among teenagers, commemoration of  2012 Lamma Island ferry collision and the HKTV incident are some of the significant social issues in recent years inspire people to re-create songs to deliver messages.
